DAVIDSON, Duquesne Meet With Identical Records in A-10 Showdown PITTSBURGH (Interstat) — Two teams jockeying for position in a crowded Atlantic 10 Conference race will meet when the Davidson Wildcats visit the Duquesne Dukes on Wednesday night. Both teams enter the 7 p.m. EST tip-off at A.J. Palumbo Center with identical 16-11 overall records, adding stakes to the league matchup. The contest is a quick rematch of a thrilling double-overtime game just under two months ago, when Duquesne edged Davidson 89-83 on Dec. 30. Davidson looks to rebound from a 63-59 road loss at Fordham on Saturday. The Wildcats have alternated wins and losses over their last six games. They will lean on guard Roberts Blums, who is coming off a 16-point, six-rebound performance against the Rams. Blums has been a consistent scorer, averaging 15.1 points over his last eight contests, including a 23-point outing in a win at Richmond on Jan. 31. Duquesne also seeks to bounce back after a 78-66 defeat at Dayton on Saturday. The Dukes had won three straight prior to that loss. Their fortunes often follow the play of guard Tarence Guinyard, who leads the team in scoring during conference play. Guinyard is averaging 16.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists over his last six games, highlighted by a 27-point effort in a win over George Washington on Feb. 7. The first meeting this season was a tightly contested affair, suggesting another close battle is likely. Davidson’s offense, which exploded for 114 points in a win over Mid-Atlantic Christian on Feb. 9, will test a Duquesne defense that has allowed an average of 73.2 points in A-10 play. With the Atlantic 10 Tournament seeding on the line, Wednesday’s game offers both teams a chance to gain a critical tiebreaker and momentum for the final stretch of the regular season.
