FLORENCE, Ala. (Interstat) — Two ASUN Conference men’s basketball teams seeking to halt late-season slides will meet Wednesday when the Bellarmine Knights visit the North Alabama Lions at Flowers Hall. Bellarmine (11-17) enters on a four-game losing streak, including a 95-92 home loss to Eastern Kentucky on Saturday. The Knights have shown offensive firepower during the skid, largely fueled by standout forward Jack Karasinski. Over his last eight games, Karasinski is averaging 23.4 points, including a 31-point performance against Eastern Kentucky and a 30-point outing at Austin Peay on Feb. 14. North Alabama (8-19) has lost five of its last six, most recently a 73-51 defeat at Lipscomb. The Lions have struggled for consistency but are bolstered by the interior presence of forward Corneilous Williams. He recorded a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds in an overtime win over Eastern Kentucky on Feb. 15 and posted 12 points and 10 rebounds in the loss to Lipscomb. The Lions won the first meeting this season, 82-73 at Bellarmine on Jan. 10. In that game, North Alabama built a 15-point halftime lead and held off a second-half Knights rally. Both teams are near the bottom of the conference standings and will view this as a critical opportunity to build momentum before their regular-season finales on Saturday. Bellarmine will look to leverage Karasinski’s hot hand and improve its defensive execution after allowing an average of 85.8 points during its losing streak. North Alabama will aim to protect its home court and find scoring support for Williams to complement his rebounding. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST Wednesday.
