Preview: Western Michigan at Bowling Green BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (Interstat) — The Bowling Green Falcons will look to solidify their position in the Mid-American Conference standings when they host the struggling Western Michigan Broncos on Tuesday night at the Stroh Center. Bowling Green (16-12) enters the matchup having dropped two straight, including a 91-77 road loss at Miami (Ohio) last Friday. The Falcons have been led by the consistent play of guard Javontae Campbell, who is averaging 20.1 points and 5.1 assists over his last seven games. He scored 24 points with six assists in the loss to Miami. Western Michigan (8-17) has lost five of its last six, most recently an 83-70 defeat at Central Michigan on Saturday. The Broncos have struggled to find consistent offense outside of forward Jayden Brewer. Brewer is coming off a 16-point, eight-rebound performance against Central Michigan and has scored in double figures in five of his last seven contests. The Falcons won the season’s first meeting decisively, 72-54, in Kalamazoo on Jan. 20. In that game, Bowling Green’s defense held Western Michigan to 32.8% shooting from the field. For Bowling Green, a victory is crucial to maintain momentum ahead of a final push before the conference tournament. The Falcons have shown an ability to defend their home court, boasting a recent 80-70 win over Toledo in Bowling Green on Feb. 14. Western Michigan, meanwhile, seeks to disrupt that home success and build on one of its few bright spots this season — a 76-62 road win at Eastern Michigan on Feb. 14. Replicating that defensive effort will be paramount against a potent Falcons backcourt. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST. The Falcons will host Massachusetts next on Saturday, while the Broncos return home to face Ball State on March 3.
