TROY, Ala. (Interstat) — The Troy Trojans, seeking to solidify their standing in the Sun Belt Conference, will host the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns in a men’s NCAA Division I basketball matchup Tuesday night at Trojan Arena. Troy (18-11 overall) enters the contest with a significant edge in the conference standings and will look to rebound from a 65-54 road loss at South Alabama last Saturday. The Trojans are led by guard Cooper Campbell, who is coming off a 26-point performance in that defeat. Campbell has been a key offensive catalyst, including a 25-point, 5-assist effort in a win over Akron on Feb. 7. The visiting Ragin’ Cajuns (10-19) arrive with momentum after snapping a three-game skid with a 67-54 home victory over Texas State on Saturday. Louisiana-Lafayette is paced by versatile guard Dorian Finister, who filled the stat sheet with 15 points, five rebounds, five assists and a block in that win. Finister has scored in double figures in eight consecutive games, averaging 16.4 points per contest during that stretch. The teams last met on Jan. 10 in Lafayette, where Troy dominated in a 90-70 victory. The Trojans have won three of the past five meetings in the series. For Troy, a win is crucial to maintain positioning for a favorable seed in the upcoming Sun Belt tournament. The Trojans have been strong at home this season, with recent victories over Akron and a double-overtime thriller at Old Dominion last month. Louisiana-Lafayette, despite its record, has shown resilience, winning four of its last eight games. The Ragin’ Cajuns will rely on Finister’s all-around play and the interior presence of Todd Jones, who recorded eight rebounds and five blocks against Texas State. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST. Troy’s next game is at home against Louisiana-Monroe on Friday. Louisiana-Lafayette travels to face Arkansas State on Friday.
