Preview: Minnesota Golden Gophers at Michigan Wolverines ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Interstat) ā The surging, fourth-ranked Michigan Wolverines look to rebound from a rare setback when they host the inconsistent Minnesota Golden Gophers in a Big Ten menās basketball matchup Tuesday night at Crisler Center. Michigan (25-2, 14-1 Big Ten) saw a 12-game winning streak snapped Saturday in a 68-63 nonconference road loss at Duke. Despite the defeat, the Wolverines remain firmly in contention for a seed in the NCAA tournament, boasting one of the nationās most complete rosters. They are a perfect 14-0 at home this season. A key to Michiganās dominant campaign has been forward Yaxel Lendeborg, who is averaging 17.5 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.3 blocks over his last six games. He posted 21 points in the loss to Duke and recorded a 14-point, 14-rebound double-double in a win at Ohio State on Feb. 8. Minnesota (13-14, 7-8) arrives following an 80-61 home victory over Rutgers on Saturday, which snapped a two-game skid. The Golden Gophers have struggled on the road, however, going 3-8 away from home this season. The Gophers will lean heavily on guard Cade Tyson, who is coming off a career-high 27 points and 10 rebounds against Rutgers. Tyson has scored in double figures in 12 consecutive games, averaging 18.2 points during that stretch. Support from Langston Reynolds (19 points, nine assists vs. Rutgers) and Grayson Grove will be essential for an upset bid. Michigan won the first meeting this season, 86-67, in Minneapolis on Jan. 10. Lendeborg led the Wolverines with 24 points and nine rebounds in that contest. The matchup pits one of the Big Tenās most potent offenses in Michigan, averaging 84.2 points per game, against a Minnesota defense that has allowed 69.3 points per contest. The Wolverinesā defensive pressure, which forces over 13 turnovers per game, will challenge a Gophers team that has committed 15 or more turnovers in three of its last five road games. Tipoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. EST. Michigan will travel to face Illinois on Thursday, while Minnesota hosts UCLA on Saturday.
