FORT COLLINS, Colo. (Interstat) — The Colorado State Rams, riding a five-game winning streak, will host the Fresno State Bulldogs in a Mountain West Conference men’s basketball matchup Tuesday night at Moby Arena. The Rams (17-10, 9-5 MW) have found their form in February, with their latest victory an 83-74 win over San Diego State on Saturday. Guard Jase Butler has been instrumental, averaging 18.2 points over the last five games and scoring a team-high 25 against the Aztecs. Conversely, the Bulldogs (12-14, 6-8) look to halt a three-game skid, most recently a narrow 80-78 home loss to New Mexico. Fresno State’s offense runs through guard Jake Heidbreder, who is averaging 19.4 points per game this month. He scored 22 in the loss to the Lobos. This game is a rematch of a Jan. 13 meeting in Fresno, where the Bulldogs defeated the Rams 79-69. Heidbreder led all scorers with 24 points in that contest. Colorado State’s surge has been marked by high-scoring offense, averaging 84.2 points during their win streak. Alongside Butler, forward Carey Booth is coming off a 22-point performance against San Diego State. Fresno State has struggled on the road in conference play, going 2-5. Their defense, which allowed 91 points in a loss at Utah State on Feb. 10, will be tested by the Rams’ efficient attack. For Colorado State, a victory would solidify their standing in the upper tier of the conference. For Fresno State, an upset on the road is critical to rebuilding momentum for the final stretch of the regular season. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. MST Tuesday.
