Auburn, Oklahoma Seek Momentum in SEC Crossroads Clash NORMAN, Okla. (Interstat) — Two teams hovering around .500 will look to build late-season momentum when the Auburn Tigers visit the Oklahoma Sooners in a Southeastern Conference men’s basketball matchup Tuesday night at Lloyd Noble Center. Auburn (15-12) arrives after a dramatic 75-74 home victory over Kentucky on Saturday, secured on a last-second play. Oklahoma (13-13) looks to rebound from a 75-71 home loss to Texas A&M the same day. Both squads have experienced recent struggles, with the Tigers having lost five of their last seven and the Sooners dropping four of their last six. The game features a compelling matchup in the backcourt, headlined by each team’s most consistent recent performer. Auburn will lean on guard KeShawn Murphy, who is coming off a career-high 25 points in the win over Kentucky. Over his last seven games, Murphy is averaging 13.6 points and has scored 20 or more points three times, including a 22-point effort at Arkansas. His versatility was on full display in a Feb. 7 loss to Alabama, where he posted a 13-point, 12-rebound double-double. Oklahoma counters with guard Dayton Forsythe, who has been a steady hand for the Sooners. He is averaging 9.7 points and 3.1 assists over the last seven contests. Forsythe dished out a season-high six assists against Texas A&M and scored 13 points in a rout of Georgia on Feb. 14. The Tigers’ recent success has often been tied to Murphy’s scoring bursts, complemented by contributors like Tahaad Pettiford and Kevin Overton. Auburn’s defense, however, has allowed 85 or more points in three of its last five games, a trend it must curb on the road. Oklahoma’s offense has shown potency, scoring 92 and 94 points in wins over Vanderbilt and Georgia this month, but consistency has been an issue. The Sooners will need production beyond Forsythe, with forwards Mohamed Wague and Derrion Reid providing key interior support. This contest represents a critical opportunity for both programs to climb above the break-even mark and improve their positioning ahead of the final stretch of conference play. Auburn continues a two-game road swing before hosting Mississippi on Saturday. Oklahoma hits the road for its next contest at LSU. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. CST Tuesday.
