TULSA, Okla. (Interstat) ā A stark contrast in fortunes will be on display Sunday when the surging Tulsa Golden Hurricane host the struggling Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners in an American Athletic Conference menās basketball game at the Donald Reynolds Center. Tulsa (21-6, 9-5 AAC) enters the contest firmly in the conference title chase, while UTSA (5-21, 2-12) seeks to snap a season defined by hardship. The Golden Hurricane have won eight of their last eleven, most recently a 79-74 home victory over Charlotte on Wednesday. They are 13-1 on their home court this season. The Roadrunners, conversely, have lost 10 of their last 11 games. They are coming off a 60-52 home loss to Florida Atlantic on Wednesday, a game in which they managed just 52 points and shot 32.7% from the field. The matchup features two of the leagueās top individual scorers. Tulsa is powered by guard Miles Barnstable, who is averaging 21.3 points in conference play. He scored 25 points in the win over Charlotte and has topped 20 points in three of his last five outings. UTSA will lean on the explosive Baboucarr Njie, who has been a bright spot during a difficult season. The guard is coming off a 21-point performance against FAU and had a dominant 25-point, 10-rebound, 5-block effort in a narrow loss to Temple on Jan. 24. Containing him will be a key focus for Tulsaās defense. The teamsā trajectories are headed in opposite directions. Tulsa, with its efficient offense and stout home defense, is a heavy favorite. The Golden Hurricane won the seasonās first meeting, 94-71, in San Antonio on Jan. 7. UTSA, which has lost six straight road games, will need a monumental performance from Njie and significant defensive improvement to challenge in the rematch. Tip-off is set for Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026, as Tulsa looks to solidify its postseason resume and UTSA aims to play spoiler.
