LILLINGTON, N.C. (Interstat) — A surging UNC Wilmington team riding a five-game winning streak will face a Campbell squad coming off a thrilling victory when the Colonial Athletic Association rivals meet Saturday at the John W. Pope, Jr. Convocation Center. The Seahawks (23-4, 13-1 CAA), who sit atop the conference standings, have won 10 of their last 11. Their lone loss in that stretch was a 78-85 defeat to William & Mary on Feb. 5. They most recently handled Monmouth 79-69 on Thursday behind 16 points from guard Nolan Hodge. Hodge has been a consistent force for UNCW, scoring in double figures in seven consecutive games, including a 23-point performance in a win at Towson on Jan. 29. The Seahawks’ balanced attack and stout defense, allowing just 65.8 points per game during their current win streak, have keyed their success. Campbell (13-14, 7-7) is looking to build momentum after a dramatic 84-83 home win over William & Mary on Thursday. That victory was fueled by a career-high 32 points and seven assists from dynamic guard Jeremiah Johnson. Johnson has been on a tear, averaging 24.3 points over his last three contests. The Fightin’ Camels’ offense runs through him, but they have struggled for consistency, alternating wins and losses in their last six games. The teams met just over a month ago in Wilmington, with the Seahawks escaping with a 78-75 victory on Jan. 17. Campbell will seek to defend its home court and avenge that narrow loss, while UNCW aims to continue its march toward the CAA regular-season title. Tipoff is set for Saturday afternoon. Following this game, UNC Wilmington will host North Carolina A&T on Feb. 26, while Campbell travels to face Drexel on the same date.
