DENVER (Interstat) ā A surging Saint Thomas (Minn.) team looks to solidify its Summit League standing when it visits Denver on Saturday at Magness Arena. The Tommies (21-7, 8-3 Summit) enter on a dominant run, winning five of their last six games, including a 104-64 road rout of Missouri-Kansas City last Saturday. Their high-powered offense has scored 90 or more points in four of those victories. Guard Nolan Minessale has been central to that success, averaging 21.4 points over his last seven contests. He is coming off a 25-point, five-assist performance against Kansas City and scored 28 in a win over Oral Roberts on Feb. 7. Denver (13-15, 5-6) has been inconsistent but showed life with a three-game win streak earlier this month before falling 83-76 at Omaha last Sunday. The Pioneers will rely on forward Jeremiah Burke, who has averaged 16.1 points in his last seven outings, including a 20-point, seven-rebound, five-assist effort in a win at North Dakota on Feb. 7. The teamsā first meeting this season was a tight affair, with Saint Thomas prevailing 92-88 at home on Jan. 4. The Tommies will aim for a regular-season sweep behind one of the conferenceās most efficient offenses. Denver, seeking to climb back to .500 in league play, will need to disrupt Saint Thomasās rhythm and protect its home court to salvage the season series. Tip-off is set for Saturday afternoon in Denver.
