HATTIESBURG, Miss. (Interstat) — Two Sun Belt teams heading in opposite directions will meet Saturday when Southern Mississippi hosts Old Dominion at Reed Green Coliseum. The Golden Eagles (14-14) have found consistency, winning three of their last four to reach .500 overall. The Monarchs (10-18), despite a recent uptick, remain near the bottom of the conference standings. Southern Mississippi is powered by guard Tylik Weeks, who is coming off a career-high 32-point performance in a 69-65 win over Troy on Feb. 14. Over his last seven games, Weeks is averaging 21.0 points, including 25 points and seven assists in a narrow loss to South Alabama. Old Dominion has won two straight, including an 83-72 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette on Monday. Guard Jordan Battle led the way with 27 points in that win, capping a strong seven-game stretch where he averaged 15.7 points and 4.3 assists. His backcourt play will be critical for the Monarchs’ hopes on the road. The recent surge for Old Dominion, however, has been a rarity in a difficult season. Prior to the two-game win streak, the team had lost five of six. Southern Mississippi has been tougher at home, posting a 9-5 record in Hattiesburg compared to Old Dominion’s 3-10 mark in true road games. This is the only scheduled meeting between the programs this season. Following this contest, Southern Mississippi travels to Arkansas State on Tuesday, while Old Dominion visits Marshall. Tip-off is set for Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026.
