Preview: Idaho Vandals at Sacramento State Hornets SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Interstat) — A pair of Big Sky Conference teams heading in opposite directions will meet Saturday when the Idaho Vandals visit the Sacramento State Hornets at Colberg Court. Idaho (14-12, 8-5 Big Sky) enters the matchup with momentum from a dominant 99-69 victory over Idaho State on Feb. 14. The Vandals have won two of their last three and sit in the upper half of the conference standings. Sacramento State (9-16, 5-8) has dropped three consecutive games, including a 79-74 road loss to Northern Arizona on Feb. 14, and is looking to stabilize its season. The Vandals won the first meeting this season, 86-76 at home on Jan. 22. Idaho’s balanced attack will be keyed by guard Kolton Mitchell, who is coming off an efficient 18-point, 7-rebound, 7-assist performance in the win over Idaho State. Mitchell has averaged 12.3 points and 4.4 assists over his last seven games. The Hornets will counter with high-scoring guard Prophet Johnson, who has been a bright spot during their recent skid. Johnson is averaging 24.6 points over his last five contests, including a 35-point outburst in a win over Weber State on Feb. 2. His ability to create offense will be crucial for a Sacramento State team that has struggled defensively, allowing an average of 83.6 points during its three-game losing streak. Idaho has shown more consistency in conference play, particularly at the offensive end, while Sacramento State has relied heavily on Johnson’s scoring. The Hornets are 6-4 at home this season, however, and will need a strong defensive effort to contain Idaho’s rhythm after the Vandals shot 56.7% from the field in their last outing. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PST on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026. Following this game, Idaho will host Northern Arizona on Feb. 26, while Sacramento State begins a road trip at Montana on the same date.
