Preview: Surging Seminoles Face Slumping Tigers in ACC Clash GREENVILLE, S.C. (Interstat) ā A surging Florida State squad will look to continue its recent turnaround against a Clemson team aiming to halt a February slide when the Seminoles visit the Tigers in an Atlantic Coast Conference menās basketball game Saturday. The matchup at the Bi-Lo Center pits two teams on divergent trajectories. Florida State (13-13, 6-8 ACC) has won four of its last five games, including a 92-69 rout at Virginia Tech and an 80-72 home victory over Boston College on Tuesday. Clemson (20-7, 9-5), once ranked, has lost three consecutive conference games, most recently an 85-77 defeat at Wake Forest on Wednesday. The Seminolesā resurgence has been fueled by guard Robert McCray. Over his last eight games, McCray is averaging 18.9 points and 4.6 assists, including a 27-point, 5-assist performance against Boston College. His dynamic scoring and playmaking will be central to Florida Stateās attack. Clemson will counter with forward Jake Wahlin, who scored 17 points in the loss to Wake Forest. Wahlin has been a key contributor during the Tigersā successful season, posting 13 points and 8 rebounds in a win at Georgia Tech last month. However, Clemsonās offense has sputtered during its losing streak, failing to reach 70 points in the three defeats. The Tigers won the seasonās first meeting, 74-66, in Tallahassee on Jan. 3. Clemsonās defense held Florida State to 36.2% shooting in that game. For Florida State, a victory would move them to .500 overall and bolster their late-season momentum. For Clemson, ranked earlier this season, the game is a critical opportunity to stabilize its postseason positioning and avoid a fourth straight ACC loss. Saturdayās contest is part of a single-game event at the Bi-Lo Center. Clemsonās next home game at Littlejohn Coliseum is scheduled for Feb. 28 against Louisville. Florida State travels to Miami on Feb. 24.
