Preview: Delaware State at Morgan State BALTIMORE (Interstat) β Morgan State looks to complete a regular-season sweep and improve its positioning in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference standings when it hosts struggling Delaware State on Saturday at Hill Field House. The Bears (10-14) edged the Hornets (6-18) 80-79 in Dover just over a month ago on Jan. 17, a result emblematic of both teamsβ seasons. Morgan State has shown an ability to win close conference games, while Delaware State has repeatedly come up short. Morgan State enters having lost a tight 80-76 road contest at North Carolina Central on Monday. The Bears are powered by guard Elijah Davis, who is coming off a 25-point performance in that loss and has been a consistent force. In his last five games, Davis is averaging 16.6 points and 6.6 assists, including a near triple-double of 11 points, nine assists and eight rebounds in a win over Maryland-Eastern Shore on Feb. 7. Delaware State, in contrast, is mired in a five-game losing streak and is coming off a 91-59 home loss to Howard on Monday. Guard Jalen StClair, who scored nine points in that defeat, will be a key for the Hornets. His playing time and production have fluctuated recently, but he logged 24 minutes in each of the last two games. The Hornets have struggled offensively during their skid, failing to reach 65 points in four of the five losses. Containing Davis and generating consistent scoring will be their primary challenges. Morgan State holds a clear advantage playing at home, where it is 7-4 this season, including a 79-71 conference win over Maryland-Eastern Shore earlier this month. Delaware State is 1-11 in road games. With the MEAC tournament approaching, the Bears aim to solidify a middle-of-the-pack seed, while the Hornets seek to build momentum and snap their prolonged slide. Tipoff is set for Saturday afternoon in Baltimore.
