Preview of Connecticut vs. Villanova BRYN MAWR, Pa. (Interstat) â A top-10 showdown with major Big East Conference implications is set for Saturday when the Connecticut Huskies visit the Villanova Wildcats at The Pavilion. The Huskies (24-3, 14-2 Big East), who saw a seven-game win streak snapped in a 91-84 home loss to Creighton on Wednesday, look to regain momentum and protect their conference lead. The Wildcats (21-5, 13-3), winners of seven straight since a loss in Storrs, aim to avenge that defeat and tighten the league race. Connecticut holds a narrow edge from the teamsâ first meeting, a 75-67 overtime victory at home on Jan. 24. In that game, UConn guard Silas Demary Jr. posted 10 points and seven assists. Demary has been stellar lately, averaging 15.8 points and 7.6 assists over his last eight games, including a 17-point, nine-assist effort in the loss to Creighton. Villanova is powered by guard Acaden Lewis, who scored 21 points and dished six assists in Tuesdayâs 92-89 overtime win at Xavier. Lewis was held to just four points in the first matchup with UConn, a performance the Wildcats will need him to surpass at home. UConnâs recent road form includes a loss at St. Johnâs on Feb. 6, but also dominant wins at Butler and Creighton. Villanova has navigated a tough stretch successfully, with recent road wins at Creighton, Georgetown and Xavier. The Huskiesâ frontcourt, featuring Tarris Reed Jr. (15 points vs. Creighton), will be tested by Villanovaâs balance, which includes Tyler Perkins and Duke Brennan. With only a few games remaining in the regular season, the outcome will significantly impact seeding for the upcoming Big East tournament and the NCAA tournament. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST on Saturday, Feb. 21.
