RICHMOND, Va. (Interstat) β€” Two teams jockeying for position in the Atlantic 10 Conference standings will meet Saturday when the Richmond Spiders host the Saint Bonaventure Bonnies at Robins Center. Both teams enter the 4 p.m. tipoff looking to halt recent slides and improve upon identical 5-8 records in A-10 play. Saint Bonaventure (14-12 overall) has lost three of its last four, while Richmond (14-13) has dropped four of its last five. The Bonnies will lean on versatile guard Frank Mitchell, who is coming off a stretch of dominant performances. Over his last seven games, Mitchell is averaging 12.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists, including a 20-point, 13-rebound double-double in a narrow loss to Duquesne on Feb. 14. His playmaking will be critical against a Richmond defense allowing 74.2 points per game in conference play. Richmond counters with guard Aiden Argabright, who has provided a scoring lift. He is averaging 11.5 points over his last six contests, including a 16-point effort in a two-point road loss to Davidson on Wednesday. The Spiders will need his offensive consistency to keep pace. The Spiders won the season’s first meeting, 89-80, in Olean, New York, on Jan. 7. That result gives Richmond a mental edge, but the Bonnies have shown resilience on the road with wins at Duquesne and Fordham this season. With the A-10 tournament looming, both teams are in urgent need of a victory to improve their seeding. The matchup features two evenly matched squads desperate to build momentum for the final stretch of the regular season.
