LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Interstat) — A surging Tennessee-Martin squad looks to continue its push atop the Ohio Valley Conference standings when it visits struggling Arkansas-Little Rock on Thursday night at Jack Stephens Center. The Skyhawks (20-7, 10-4 OVC) enter the matchup riding momentum from an 81-76 road victory at SIU Edwardsville on Saturday. They have won seven of their last nine games and sit firmly in the conference title race. Arkansas-Little Rock (10-17, 5-9), meanwhile, has lost eight of its last ten and seeks to salvage a split of the season series. Tennessee-Martin edged the Trojans 55-52 in Martin just over two weeks ago on Feb. 3 in a defensive struggle. A similar low-scoring affair could be in store, as the Skyhawks have held opponents under 62 points in four of their last six wins. A key player for the visitors is forward Andrija Bukumirović, who scored 15 points in the first meeting against Little Rock. He is coming off a strong 19-point, 9-rebound performance at SIU Edwardsville and has averaged 15.4 points over his last seven contests. His inside presence will be central to the Skyhawks’ attack. The Trojans will counter with forward Kachi Nzeh, who posted 11 points, three assists and a block in the prior loss at Tennessee-Martin. He is coming off a 13-point, 7-rebound effort in a 78-72 loss at Eastern Illinois. Consistency has been an issue for Little Rock, which followed a 19-point win at Western Illinois on Feb. 12 with a home loss to SIU Edwardsville. For Arkansas-Little Rock, protecting home court is critical to halt its slide. The Trojans are 7-5 at the Jack Stephens Center this season. Tennessee-Martin, however, has proven effective on the road, going 9-4 away from home. The game tips off at 8 p.m. EST Thursday as part of the Ohio Valley Conference schedule.
