CHARLESTON, S.C. (Interstat) — A pair of Southern Conference Bulldogs will clash Thursday when Samford visits The Citadel at McAlister Field House. Samford (15-12) enters on a five-game winning streak, including a 78-64 home victory over The Citadel on Feb. 5. The visiting Bulldogs are led by forward Dylan Faulkner, who is averaging 18.4 points and 9.1 rebounds over his last eight games. He posted a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds in an 82-72 overtime win at East Tennessee State on Saturday. The Citadel (9-18) has lost three of its last four, most recently a 70-54 home defeat to Mercer. Guard Carter Kingsbury, who scored 13 points in the earlier loss to Samford, leads the home Bulldogs. He is averaging 9.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game this season. Samford’s surge has featured strong defense, holding opponents to an average of 66.2 points during its win streak. The Citadel has struggled offensively, failing to reach 65 points in three of its last four outings. The rematch offers The Citadel a chance to halt its skid and split the season series on its home floor, where it is 6-7 this season. Samford aims to continue its push up the conference standings and improve its 5-7 road record. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EST Thursday.
