Hofstra Looks to Rebound Against Visiting Hampton in Colonial Clash HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (Interstat) — The Hofstra Pride, looking to steady themselves after a narrow road loss, host the Hampton Pirates in a Colonial Athletic Association men’s basketball matchup on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026, at the Mack Sports Complex. Hofstra (17-10) enters the contest having dropped three of its last five, including a 70-66 defeat at UNC Wilmington on Saturday. The Pride boast a strong 10-3 record at home this season and will rely on guard Preston Edmead, who is averaging 17.4 points and 6.1 assists over his last seven games. Edmead scored 21 points in the loss to UNC Wilmington. Hampton (12-14) arrives on Long Island following a heartbreaking 71-70 loss at North Carolina A&T last Friday. The Pirates have shown resilience, with three of their last five games going to overtime, including a double-overtime win over Elon on Feb. 5. The Pirates are led by forward Xzavier Long, who is averaging a double-double of 10.4 points and 10.1 rebounds over his last seven contests. Long posted 17 points and six rebounds in the recent loss to North Carolina A&T and recorded a 14-rebound performance against William & Mary on Feb. 7. Hofstra won the first meeting this season, 78-70, at Hampton on Jan. 2. In that game, Edmead led all scorers with 24 points for the Pride, while Long was held to eight points for the Pirates. The Pride’s offensive efficiency, ranking second in the CAA in field goal percentage, will be tested by a Hampton defense that has allowed an average of 71.3 points in conference play. Hofstra has been dominant at home against league foes, winning seven of nine such games. Hampton, sitting in the bottom half of the conference standings, needs a signature road victory to improve its positioning ahead of next month’s CAA tournament. Guard play will be critical; Jalyke Gaines-Wyatt and Elijah Kennedy combined for 30 points in the Pirates’ last outing. Following this game, Hofstra travels to face Northeastern on Saturday, while Hampton visits Stony Brook.
