LYNCHBURG, Va. (Interstat) — A surging Liberty squad looks to continue its dominant run through Conference USA when it hosts a Florida International team seeking consistency on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026, at the Vines Center. The Flames (22-3, 11-1 CUSA) enter on a nine-game winning streak and sit atop the conference standings. Their formidable record includes a 97-94 overtime victory at Florida International on Dec. 28 in the teams’ only previous meeting this season. Liberty has been led by guard JJ Harper, who is averaging 15.2 points over his last six games, including an 18-point, 6-rebound performance in a 73-64 win at UTEP last Saturday. Florida International (12-13, 4-8) arrives after snapping a two-game skid with a 77-64 home win over Louisiana Tech. The Golden Panthers’ success often hinges on forward Hamed Olayinka, who recorded a staggering 17 rebounds and 5 blocks in that victory. Olayinka has shown flashes of high-level production, including a 19-point game at UTEP last month, but the team has struggled for steady results, alternating wins and losses in its last seven contests. Liberty’s balance presents a major challenge. In the UTEP win, Zach Cleveland posted 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists, while Colin Porter added 10 points. The Flames have not lost since Jan. 15. For Florida International to pull an upset, it will need another monumental effort from Olayinka inside and continued backcourt scoring from Zawdie Jackson, who had 20 points against Louisiana Tech. The Golden Panthers must also improve on a 2-7 road record this season. The Flames boast one of the nation’s best home-court advantages, having gone 12-1 at the Vines Center this season. A win would solidify their position as the conference frontrunner, while Florida International aims to build momentum for the final stretch of the regular season. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST. Liberty hosts Western Kentucky on Saturday, while Florida International returns home to face Missouri State.
