Preview: William & Mary at Campbell LILLINGTON, N.C. (Interstat) — A Colonial Athletic Association rematch with significant conference tournament seeding implications is set for Thursday when the William & Mary Tribe visit the Campbell Fightin’ Camels at the John W. Pope, Jr. Convocation Center. William & Mary (16-10, 8-5 CAA) enters with a superior overall record but looks to avenge a high-scoring home loss to Campbell just three weeks ago. In that Jan. 31 meeting, the Fightin’ Camels outlasted the Tribe 104-96. Campbell (12-14, 6-7) will aim to complete the regular-season sweep and climb closer to .500 in league play. The Tribe, coming off a narrow 81-78 home loss to Elon on Saturday, have been inconsistent lately, alternating wins and losses over their past six games. They are led by Jo’el Emanuel, who is coming off a strong 13-point, 7-rebound performance against Elon. In the first matchup with Campbell, Emanuel contributed 9 points in 26 minutes. Campbell seeks to rebound from a 62-57 home defeat to College of Charleston last Sunday. The Fightin’ Camels have shown resilience, following a four-game skid in January with consecutive wins over Drexel and North Carolina A&T earlier this month. Forward Muneer Newton, who had 9 points and 5 rebounds in the win at William & Mary, is a key interior presence. He nearly posted a double-double with 8 points and 11 rebounds against Charleston. William & Mary’s offense, which averages over 78 points per game, will test a Campbell defense that has allowed 80 or more points in four of its last seven contests. Conversely, the Tribe must contain a Campbell squad that shot efficiently in the first encounter, scoring a season-high 104 points. The outcome will impact the middle of the CAA standings as the regular season enters its final weeks. William & Mary currently sits in a tighter race for a favorable tournament bye, while Campbell looks to solidify its position and build momentum. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST on Thursday, Feb. 19. William & Mary’s next game is at home against Northeastern on Feb. 26. Campbell will host UNC Wilmington on Saturday.
