Preview: Binghamton Bearcats at Bryant Bulldogs SMITHFIELD, R.I. (Interstat) — Two America East Conference men’s basketball teams seeking to halt slides will meet Thursday when the Bryant Bulldogs host the Binghamton Bearcats at Chace Athletic Center. Both squads enter the matchup on losing streaks. Binghamton (5-22) has dropped five consecutive games since its last victory, which came against these same Bulldogs on Jan. 29, a 63-60 decision at home. Bryant (8-18) has lost three straight, most recently a 90-63 defeat at Vermont on Saturday. The Bearcats are coming off a narrow 77-74 home loss to Albany on Feb. 14, a game in which they led by 10 points in the second half. Guard Wes Peterson paced Binghamton in that contest with 18 points, six rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Peterson’s production has fluctuated; he scored 28 points in a triple-overtime loss at New Hampshire on Jan. 22 but was held to single digits in three of his last five outings. Bryant will look to guard Ty Tabales to provide an offensive spark. Tabales erupted for 21 points in 23 minutes off the bench in the loss to Vermont, demonstrating scoring capability the Bulldogs desperately need. In the Jan. 29 loss at Binghamton, Tabales was held to two points but distributed six assists. The Bulldogs have struggled at home recently, losing four of their last five at Chace Athletic Center. Binghamton’s road woes are more pronounced, having lost 11 of 12 games away from home this season. Thursday’s rematch offers Bryant an opportunity for revenge and to sweep the season series with a home victory. For Binghamton, it represents a chance to replicate its defensive performance from the first meeting, where it held Bryant to 32.8% shooting from the field, and to find a consistent scoring complement to Peterson. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
