RICHMOND, Ky. (Interstat) — Two ASUN Conference men’s basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Wednesday when the West Georgia Wolves visit the Eastern Kentucky Colonels at McBrayer Arena. West Georgia (12-14) enters the contest looking to rebound from a 79-62 road loss at Central Arkansas on Saturday. The Wolves had previously won two of their last three. Eastern Kentucky (9-18) aims to end a two-game skid, most recently falling 84-78 in overtime at North Alabama on Sunday. The matchup will feature a contrast in recent form. The Wolves have shown offensive sparks, averaging 76.6 points over their last five games. The Colonels have struggled for consistency, alternating wins and losses over their past six outings. A key storyline will be the performance of West Georgia guard Shelton Williams-Dryden, who has been a dominant scorer. He is averaging 21.4 points over his last eight games, including four performances of 24 points or more. He recorded a double-double with 21 points and seven rebounds in the loss to Central Arkansas. For Eastern Kentucky, forward Jalen Cooper is coming off one of his best games of the season, posting 16 points and 10 rebounds in the overtime loss to North Alabama. His production will be vital for the Colonels to compete on the glass. In the previous meeting this season, West Georgia secured an 88-76 home victory over Eastern Kentucky on Jan. 3. The Wolves will look to complete the regular-season sweep. Both teams are jockeying for position ahead of the ASUN Conference tournament. Wednesday’s game offers a critical opportunity for either squad to build late-season confidence. Following this game, West Georgia travels to face Queens (N.C.) on Saturday. Eastern Kentucky will hit the road for a matchup at Bellarmine on the same day. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.
