SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Interstat) β€” The Wofford Terriers, aiming to solidify their standing in the Southern Conference, will host the struggling Virginia Military Institute Keydets on Wednesday night at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium. The matchup presents a stark contrast in trajectories. Wofford (17-10) enters the game looking to rebound from a 99-89 road loss at UNC Greensboro last Saturday. The Terriers had won four of their previous five before the setback. VMI (6-21) seeks to end a prolonged slump, carrying a 10-game losing streak into Spartanburg. The Keydets fell 90-72 to Furman at home in their last outing. Wofford, which sits in the upper tier of the conference, defeated VMI 81-67 in Lexington just two weeks ago on Feb. 4. In that game, Terriers guard Nils Machowski scored 15 points with three assists. Machowski has been a consistent force, averaging 18.1 points over his last eight contests, including a 24-point effort in the loss to UNC Greensboro and a 19-point, 11-rebound double-double in a win over Western Carolina on Feb. 7. The Keydets’ hopes will largely rest on the shoulders of guard TJ Johnson, who has been a bright spot during the difficult stretch. Johnson torched Wofford for 25 points in the earlier meeting this month. He is coming off a 26-point, six-rebound performance against Furman and has scored 20 or more points in four of his last five games, averaging 22.8 points over that span. For VMI, containing Machowski and improving defensive efficiency will be critical, as they have allowed 86.7 points per game during their 10-game skid. Wofford will look to exploit its home court advantage and defensive pressure to force VMI into turnovers and create transition opportunities. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip-off on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, as part of the Southern Conference regular-season schedule.
