DES MOINES, Iowa (Interstat) ā Two teams seeking momentum for the Missouri Valley Conference tournament will meet Wednesday when the Southern Illinois Salukis visit the Drake Bulldogs at Knapp Center. Both teams enter with identical 12-15 overall records, though Southern Illinois (6-10 MVC) holds a slight conference edge over Drake (5-11). The matchup is a quick rematch of a Jan. 14 overtime thriller in Carbondale, which Drake won 76-73. The Salukis are led by guard QuelāRon House, who is averaging 21.4 points over his last five games. He scored 26 points in the first meeting against Drake and is coming off another 26-point performance in a loss to Bradley on Sunday. Drake will counter with high-scoring guard Jalen Quinn, who has been a bright spot during the Bulldogsā recent six-game skid. Quinn is averaging 25.6 points over his last seven contests, including a 33-point outing against Valparaiso on Feb. 9. He scored 20 in Drakeās most recent game, a lopsided loss at Northern Iowa. Southern Illinois has shown resilience, winning three of its last six games, including road victories at Indiana State and Illinois State. Drakeās last win was a 101-90 shootout against Murray State on Jan. 21, and the Bulldogs will be desperate to defend their home court and snap their losing streak. The game tips off at 7 p.m. CST Wednesday at Knapp Center. Southern Illinois visits Northern Iowa next on Saturday, while Drakeās next game is at Valparaiso on Feb. 25.
