OMAHA, Neb. (Interstat) — The Omaha Mavericks will look to solidify their position in the Summit League standings when they host the struggling Oral Roberts Golden Eagles on Wednesday night at Baxter Arena. Omaha (14-14 overall) enters the contest at .500 and is coming off an 83-76 home victory over Denver on Sunday. The Mavericks have shown resilience, winning three of their last five games. A key contributor has been guard Lance Waddles, who is coming off a 21-point performance against Denver. His scoring punch will be central to Omaha’s attack as they seek a season sweep of Oral Roberts. The Golden Eagles (6-21) are mired in a difficult season, having lost 10 of their last 12 games. Their most recent outing was an 87-69 home loss to Summit League powerhouse South Dakota State on Saturday. The lone bright spot has been the consistent play of guard Ty Harper, who poured in 25 points in that defeat. Harper has been a high-volume scorer, averaging 20.4 points over his last five games, and will be the primary focus of the Oral Roberts offense. In the first meeting this season on Jan. 17 in Tulsa, Omaha secured a 73-62 victory. Containing Harper, who was held to 12 points in that game, and capitalizing on home court will be the blueprint for the Mavericks. Oral Roberts continues to search for answers defensively, having allowed 87 or more points in three of its last four losses. Omaha, which averages 78.3 points per game at home, will look to exploit that vulnerability. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CST Wednesday. The Mavericks will hit the road next to face South Dakota on Feb. 25, while the Golden Eagles return home to host South Dakota on Feb. 21.
