STILLWATER, Okla. (Interstat) — Two Big 12 teams looking to rebound from weekend losses will meet Wednesday night when the Kansas Jayhawks visit the Oklahoma State Cowboys at Gallagher-Iba Arena. Kansas (19-6, 8-4 Big 12) enters after a rare offensive stumble, a 56-74 loss at Iowa State on Saturday that snapped a six-game winning streak. The Jayhawks, who average 78.2 points per game, were held to a season-low in scoring. They will lean on guard Melvin Council, who has been a consistent force. Council is averaging 17.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.6 assists over his last seven games, including a 23-point effort in a win over Arizona and a 17-point, 12-assist performance at Kansas State. Oklahoma State (16-9, 5-7) is coming off a heartbreaking 92-95 overtime loss to TCU at home, its fourth defeat in five games. The Cowboys have shown resilience, however, with three of their last five losses coming by single digits. Their offense runs through forward Parsa Fallah, who is coming off a career-high 27 points against TCU. Fallah’s production has been volatile, but he provides a critical interior presence for a team averaging 77.8 points. The matchup pits Kansas’s typically stout defense, which allows just 66.3 points per game, against an Oklahoma State squad that has struggled defensively during its recent skid, conceding an average of 83.2 points over its last five contests. The Jayhawks won the first meeting this season, 80-62, in Lawrence on Jan. 16. For Kansas, a win is essential to keep pace near the top of the conference standings. For Oklahoma State, which sits in the middle of the pack, a signature victory over a ranked opponent is crucial for its postseason resume. The Cowboys are 11-2 at home this season, while Kansas is 4-4 in true road games. The game is scheduled for 8 p.m. CST and will be televised on ESPN2.
