SAN FRANCISCO (Interstat) — The Gonzaga Bulldogs, riding a wave of dominant victories, visit the San Francisco Dons on Wednesday afternoon in a West Coast Conference men’s basketball rematch of a tense January clash. Gonzaga (25-2, 12-1 WCC) enters War Memorial Gymnasium having won four straight since its lone conference loss at Portland on Feb. 4. The Bulldogs are coming off a 94-86 road win at Santa Clara on Saturday, powered by 21 points each from Graham Ike and Adam Miller, plus 20 from Tyon Grant-Foster. Ike, the Bulldogs’ standout forward, has been on a remarkable tear, averaging 26 points over his last five games. That stretch includes a 35-point performance at Oregon State and a 30-point outing against Saint Mary’s. He scored 21 in the first meeting with San Francisco. The Dons (15-13, 6-7), however, have proven to be a tough out for Gonzaga. Just over three weeks ago, on Jan. 24 in Spokane, San Francisco pushed the Bulldogs to the limit before falling 68-66. Gonzaga needed a late surge to secure that victory. San Francisco seeks a similar disruptive effort at home, fresh off a 92-79 win at San Diego on Sunday. Forward David Fuchs led the Dons with 21 points in that contest, bouncing back from a quiet stretch. His production will be key; Fuchs was limited to just six minutes and zero points in the prior matchup with Gonzaga. The Dons have struggled for consistency in conference play, alternating wins and losses in their last six games. Guard Vukasin Masic, who scored 22 against San Diego, provides a secondary scoring threat alongside Fuchs. For Gonzaga, the game represents another hurdle in its pursuit of a WCC regular-season title. The Bulldogs’ potent offense, which has scored 80 or more points in 10 of its last 12 games, will test a San Francisco defense that allowed 90 points in a loss to Oregon State last week. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. PST at a sold-out War Memorial Gymnasium.
