Seton Hall Aims to Avenge Earlier Loss Against Visiting DePaul NEWARK, N.J. (Interstat) — The Seton Hall Pirates look to protect their home court and solidify their NCAA tournament resume when they host the DePaul Blue Demons in a Big East Conference matchup Wednesday night at Prudential Center. The Pirates (18-8, 8-5 Big East) enter with momentum after a gritty 63-56 road win at Butler last Sunday. They have won three of their last four, with the lone loss a narrow 69-68 defeat at Creighton. Seton Hall sits in a logjam near the top of the conference standings and cannot afford a slip-up against a team below them. DePaul (13-12, 5-7) arrives in Newark fresh off a thrilling 72-71 home victory over then-Creighton on Feb. 11, which snapped a four-game skid. The Blue Demons will seek a regular-season sweep of the Pirates after winning the first meeting 67-60 in Chicago on Jan. 24. A key storyline will be the play of each team’s standout wing. Seton Hall is powered by AJ Staton-McCray, who is coming off a 19-point, 2-block performance against Butler and has averaged 16.4 points over his last five games. He was held to just four points in the loss at DePaul last month. For the Blue Demons, NJ Benson is a barometer for success. The forward erupted for 23 points in 32 minutes in the upset over Creighton. In DePaul’s five conference wins, Benson averages 14.2 points, compared to 7.7 points in their seven league losses. The Pirates have been strong at home in conference play, boasting a 6-1 record at Prudential Center. Their defense, which held Butler to 33.9% shooting, will be tested by a DePaul team that scored efficiently in the first matchup. DePaul’s road form, however, has been a struggle. Since the calendar turned to 2026, the Blue Demons are 1-5 in true road games, with the lone win at Georgetown on Jan. 6. Wednesday’s contest is the only scheduled meeting between the schools this season. Seton Hall will look to leverage its superior record and home-court advantage, while DePaul aims to replicate its January defensive effort, which held the Pirates to 35.7% shooting from the field. Tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m. EST, with television coverage on FS1.
