Preview: Charlotte 49ers at Tulsa Golden Hurricane TULSA, Okla. (Interstat) ā The Tulsa Golden Hurricane will look to halt a three-game skid and protect their home court when they host the Charlotte 49ers in an American Athletic Conference menās basketball matchup Wednesday night at the Donald Reynolds Center. Tulsa (20-6, 8-5 AAC), which soared into February as a conference contender, has stumbled recently with consecutive road losses to Wichita State, UAB and South Florida. The Golden Hurricaneās last victory was a 78-76 nail-biter at Florida Atlantic on Feb. 4. They now return home, where they are 12-2 this season. Senior guard Miles Barnstable remains Tulsaās consistent offensive force, averaging 16.1 points per game. He scored 19 in the loss at Wichita State last Saturday. Tulsaās defense, which had been a strength during a seven-game win streak in January, has allowed an average of 80 points during its current losing streak. Charlotte (13-12, 7-6) arrives in Tulsa also seeking to snap a losing streak, having dropped its last three games. The 49ers are coming off a 88-79 home loss to Texas-San Antonio on Sunday, despite a standout performance from forward Ben Bradford. The junior recorded a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds in that contest. Bradfordās production has been volatile; following his 20-point effort, he was held to just four points in 14 minutes in a loss at Memphis on Feb. 8. Charlotteās success often hinges on his ability to impact the game inside. This is a rematch of a Jan. 14 meeting in Charlotte, which Tulsa won 86-74 behind a balanced scoring attack. In that game, the Golden Hurricane shot 52% from the field and built a 15-point halftime lead. For Tulsa, a return to its defensive identity is paramount. For Charlotte, finding consistency on the road, where it is 4-6, is the key to climbing back to .500 in league play. The game tips off at 7 p.m. CST Wednesday. Tulsaās next game is at home Sunday against Texas-San Antonio. Charlotte hosts East Carolina on Saturday.
