Preview: Army at Loyola Maryland in Patriot League Clash BALTIMORE (Interstat) — Two men’s basketball teams seeking momentum for the final stretch of the Patriot League season will meet Wednesday when the Loyola Maryland Greyhounds host the Army Black Knights at Reitz Arena. The matchup features teams with nearly identical records. Loyola Maryland (11-16 overall) enters with a slight edge over Army (10-17) in the standings. Both squads are coming off recent wins, looking to build consistency after up-and-down campaigns. The Greyhounds, playing at home, have won three of their last four games. Their offense is powered by guard Braeden Speed, who is coming off a dominant performance. In Loyola Maryland’s 83-73 victory over Holy Cross last Sunday, Speed recorded 25 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Over his last five games, he is averaging 19.4 points and 5.2 assists, establishing himself as a primary facilitator and scorer. The Black Knights will rely on forward Jackson Furman, who posted 12 points, five rebounds and three assists against the Eagles. Furman has been a key contributor, logging significant minutes and providing scoring and rebounding in recent contests. In the teams’ first meeting this season on Jan. 7, Loyola Maryland secured an 84-76 overtime victory at West Point. That result will likely be on the minds of the Black Knights as they seek to split the season series. The game is part of a tight Patriot League schedule where seeding for the conference tournament is at stake. Following this contest, Army will prepare to host rival Navy on Saturday, while Loyola Maryland will travel to face first-place Colgate. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. EST Wednesday at Reitz Arena.
