Preview: Minnesota at Oregon in Big Ten Men’s Basketball EUGENE, Ore. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking momentum in the back half of the Big Ten schedule will meet Tuesday night when the Minnesota Golden Gophers visit the Oregon Ducks at Matthew Knight Arena. Both programs enter the Feb. 17 contest with sub-.500 overall records. Minnesota (11-14) has lost three of its last four, including a 57-69 defeat at Washington on Saturday. Oregon (9-16) snapped a three-game skid with an 83-72 home victory over Penn State on the same day. The matchup features a contrast in recent performance. The Golden Gophers have struggled offensively, failing to reach 70 points in four of their last five outings. They will lean on guard Cade Tyson, who is averaging 17.3 points over his last three games and scored 22 in 40 minutes against the Huskies. The Ducks, however, are coming off one of their best offensive showings of the season. Center Nate Bittle was instrumental in the win over Penn State, posting 22 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two blocks. He has averaged 20.0 points over his last three contests, providing a consistent interior presence. Minnesota’s recent road form is a concern; they are 1-7 away from home in conference play. Oregon’s home win over Penn State provided a rare bright spot in a season where they have also found victories hard to secure. This game represents a critical opportunity for both squads to build confidence. For Minnesota, solving its scoring woes on the road is paramount. For Oregon, capitalizing on home court and the versatile play of Bittle is essential to string together consecutive wins for only the second time this season. The game is scheduled for a 9 p.m. EST tip-off and will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network. Up Next: Minnesota hosts Rutgers on Saturday, Feb. 21. Oregon travels to face Southern California on the same day.
