CLEVELAND (Interstat) — A Horizon League rematch with postseason implications is set for Sunday when the Wright State Raiders visit the Cleveland State Vikings at Wolstein Center. The Raiders (16-10, 8-7 Horizon) look to avenge an 85-79 home loss to the Vikings on Jan. 21 and solidify their standing in the conference. Cleveland State (10-16, 7-8), despite a sub-.500 overall record, has proven capable in league play and can sweep the season series with another victory. Wright State enters having dropped two of its last three, including a 77-74 home loss to Detroit on Thursday. In that game, guard Andrea Holden provided a spark off the bench with 15 points in 18 minutes. The Raiders will need similar production from their reserves to support a starting lineup featuring Michael Cooper and Kellen Pickett. Cleveland State is looking to rebound from a disappointing 85-68 home loss to Robert Morris on Thursday. The Vikings will lean heavily on dynamic guard Jaidon Lipscomb, who scored 21 points in that defeat and was instrumental in the first win over Wright State, posting 15 points and three assists. Over his last five games, Lipscomb is averaging 18.2 points and 4.4 assists. The matchup hinges on tempo and defense. Wright State’s more consistent season record contrasts with Cleveland State’s recent volatility, but the Vikings have shown a knack for winning close league games, including a 90-88 overtime victory at Milwaukee on Feb. 1. Sunday’s result will significantly impact the seeding picture for the upcoming Horizon League Tournament. A Wright State win would create separation in the middle of the standings, while a Cleveland State sweep would vault the Vikings ahead of the Raiders.
