Saints, Red Foxes Meet in Key MAAC Showdown POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (Interstat) — A pivotal Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men’s basketball matchup is set for Sunday when the Siena Saints visit the Marist Red Foxes at McCann Recreation Center. Both teams enter with nearly identical records and seeking momentum for the league tournament. Siena (17-9, 9-4 MAAC) looks to rebound from a 74-62 home loss to Quinnipiac on Friday, which snapped a three-game winning streak. Marist (16-9, 8-5) aims to halt a two-game skid after a lopsided 81-56 defeat at Merrimack on Thursday. The Saints won the first meeting this season decisively, 69-50, in Loudonville on Jan. 22. Siena guard Francis Folefac, a key player to watch, scored 10 points in that victory. He enters in strong form, averaging 14.3 points, 5.3 assists and 4.3 rebounds over his last three contests, including a 16-point, 7-assist effort in a close loss at Saint Peter’s on Feb. 7. Marist will counter with guard Justin Menard, who dished five assists in the January loss to Siena. Menard has been a consistent offensive catalyst, scoring in double figures in seven of his last nine games. He posted 22 points in an overtime win at Canisius on Jan. 30 and tallied 18 in a narrow loss at Fairfield on Feb. 7. The game features two of the MAAC’s top mid-pack teams jockeying for postseason positioning. Siena’s recent road form has been solid with wins at Canisius and Niagara in late January. Marist, however, has struggled offensively during its current losing streak, averaging just 58 points in losses to Fairfield and Merrimack. Defensive intensity will likely be the focus for the Red Foxes after allowing Siena to shoot 48% from the field in the first matchup. The Saints will aim to re-establish their defensive identity after Quinnipiac shot 50% against them on Friday. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. Eastern. The Saints’ next game is at Merrimack on Feb. 20. Marist travels to face Manhattan on Feb. 20.
