FAIRFIELD, Conn. (Interstat) — The Sacred Heart Pioneers will look to complete a regular-season sweep and halt a three-game skid when they host the struggling Rider Broncs in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men’s basketball game Sunday at the William Pitt Center. Sacred Heart (10-16) dominated the first meeting, routing Rider 105-85 on Jan. 19 behind a 26-point performance from forward Anquan Hill. The Pioneers have lost three straight since, however, including an 80-68 defeat at Manhattan on Feb. 7. Hill was brilliant in that loss, posting 30 points and 10 rebounds. He averages 20.1 points per game and has scored 18 or more in five of his last seven contests. Rider (3-20) enters mired in a deeper slump, having lost 10 of its last 11 games. The Broncs are coming off a 73-47 home loss to Merrimack on Feb. 7, a game in which they shot just 30.9% from the field. Guard Caleb Smith, a player to watch for Rider, scored 11 points in that contest. His season has been inconsistent; he recorded a triple-double threat of 4 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists in the Jan. 19 loss to Sacred Heart but was held to 4 points in 30 minutes in a Feb. 5 loss at Marist. The Pioneers’ offense, which averages 78.5 points per game, will be heavily favored against a Rider defense allowing 80.2 points per contest. Sacred Heart’s 105-point outburst in the prior matchup represents a season-high for points allowed by Rider. For Sacred Heart, securing a win is crucial to build momentum before road games at Fairfield and Marist next week. Rider, anchored near the bottom of the MAAC, seeks any positive momentum before returning home to face Canisius on Feb. 20. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. EST on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026.
