Iona Looks to Sweep Season Series Against Struggling Niagara SANBORN, N.Y. (Interstat) — The Iona Gaels visit the Niagara Purple Eagles in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men’s basketball matchup on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026, at the Gallagher Center. Iona (14-11) enters the contest looking to stabilize its season after losing three of its last four games, including a 76-83 home defeat to Mount Saint Mary’s on Feb. 7. The Gaels will rely on guard Lamin Sabally, who is coming off a 20-point performance in that loss. Sabally has been a key contributor, averaging 11.2 points, 4.2 assists and 4.0 rebounds over his last six games. Niagara (6-19) seeks an upset to snap a prolonged slump, having lost 10 of its last 11 contests. The Purple Eagles fell 55-56 at Quinnipiac on Feb. 7, a game in which forward Will Shortt posted a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Shortt has been a bright spot, recording three double-doubles in his last seven appearances. The Gaels won the first meeting this season decisively, 71-53 at home on Jan. 9. Iona’s defense held Niagara to 32.8% shooting from the field in that victory. For Iona, consistency on the road has been an issue, while Niagara has struggled to close out tight games, with five of its last nine losses coming by six points or fewer. The Gaels currently sit in the middle of the MAAC standings, while the Purple Eagles are near the bottom. The game tips off at 1 p.m. EST. Iona’s next game is at home against Saint Peter’s on Feb. 20. Niagara travels to face Mount Saint Mary’s on the same date.
