CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (Interstat) — A pivotal Ivy League men’s basketball rematch with conference title implications is set for Saturday when the Yale Bulldogs visit the Harvard Crimson at Lavietes Pavilion. The Bulldogs (18-4, 8-1 Ivy), who hold a narrow lead in the conference standings, enter on a five-game winning streak following an 83-70 road victory at Dartmouth on Friday. Yale’s only league loss this season came at the hands of Harvard, a 67-65 defeat in New Haven on Jan. 31. The Crimson (14-9, 7-2 Ivy) kept pace with a gritty 56-53 home win over Brown on Friday. Saturday’s contest is a chance for Yale to avenge its sole conference blemish and solidify its position atop the league, while Harvard looks to complete a regular-season sweep and draw even in the loss column. According to National Statistical’s ELO system, Yale is projected with a 73% probability to win. A key matchup will feature two of the Ivy League’s top performers. Yale guard Trevor Mullin has been a consistent force, averaging 17.0 points over his last three games, including 21 in the loss to Harvard last month. For the Crimson, guard Robert Hinton has been exceptional, scoring 20 or more points in four of his last five outings. He torched Yale for 26 points in the January victory. Yale’s offense has been potent, averaging 81.6 points during its current win streak. Beyond Mullin, Nick Townsend and Isaac Celiscar provided significant contributions in the win at Dartmouth. Harvard, meanwhile, has relied on stout defense, holding its last three opponents under 60 points per game. Hinton’s scoring is complemented by Tey Barbour, who added 17 points against Brown. The Bulldogs have dominated recent series history, but Harvard’s nail-biting win earlier this season proves the Crimson can compete at the highest level of the conference. The atmosphere at a packed Lavietes Pavilion will be electric for this Valentine’s Day showdown, with major implications for the Ivy League tournament seeding. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. EST. Following this game, Yale will host Penn on Feb. 21, while Harvard will travel to face Cornell on the same date.
