Preview: West Virginia Mountaineers at UCF Knights OVIEDO, Fla. (Interstat) — A pivotal Big 12 Conference matchup unfolds Saturday at CFE Arena as the UCF Knights host the West Virginia Mountaineers. The Knights (17-6 overall) enter the contest looking to rebound from a 92-72 road loss at Cincinnati on Feb. 8. Prior to that defeat, UCF had won three straight, including an 88-80 victory over Texas Tech. The Knights have been strong at home this season, with key wins over Arizona State and Kansas. UCF’s offense is paced by guard Chris Johnson, who is coming off a 16-point, 6-assist performance against the Bearcats. Johnson has scored in double figures in three of his last five games. West Virginia (15-9) also seeks to bounce back from a home loss, falling 70-63 to Texas Tech on Feb. 8. The Mountaineers’ recent form has been inconsistent, mixing solid road wins at Cincinnati and Arizona State with lopsided defeats at Arizona and against Baylor. The Mountaineers will lean heavily on forward Brenen Lorient, who has emerged as a consistent scoring threat. Lorient is averaging 17.1 points over his last seven games, including a 21-point effort in the loss to Texas Tech. His ability to score and rebound will be critical against UCF’s frontcourt. This game represents the first of a home-and-home series between the teams this season, with the rematch scheduled for March 6 in Morgantown. The Knights hold a slight edge in the standings and will aim to protect their home court, while the Mountaineers need a quality road win to bolster their postseason resume. Tip-off is set for Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026. The game will be televised on Big 12 Now on ESPN+. Up Next: UCF hosts TCU on Tuesday, Feb. 17. West Virginia returns home to face Utah on Wednesday, Feb. 18.
