Preview: Western Michigan at Eastern Michigan YPSILANTI, Mich. (Interstat) ā Two menās basketball teams seeking to halt slides will meet Saturday when the Eastern Michigan Eagles host the Western Michigan Broncos in a Mid-American Conference matchup at the Convocation Center. Both teams enter the Valentineās Day contest on significant losing streaks. The visiting Broncos (7-15 overall) have dropped five of their last six games, including a 90-79 home loss to Toledo on Wednesday. The Eagles (9-15) have fared even worse recently, losing seven consecutive games. Their latest was a narrow 95-91 road defeat at Kent State on Wednesday. Western Michigan will look to replicate its performance from the first meeting this season, a 79-62 home victory over Eastern Michigan on Jan. 10. The Broncos have been led lately by guard Justice Williams, who is coming off a 22-point effort against Toledo. Over his last seven games, Williams is averaging 13.9 points. Eastern Michiganās hopes will rest heavily on the hot hand of Addison Patterson. The guard is averaging 17.3 points per game over his last seven contests and exploded for a career-high 32 points in the loss at Kent State. His backcourt mate, Mohammad Habhab, added 22 points and three assists in that game, providing a potent scoring duo. Despite their records, both teams have shown the ability to score in bursts but have struggled with consistency, particularly on defense. Western Michigan has allowed 85 or more points in four of its last six losses. Eastern Michiganās losing streak includes several close defeats, with four losses by six points or fewer. The game will be a critical opportunity for either squad to build momentum before the conference tournament. Following this game, Western Michigan hosts Akron on Tuesday, while Eastern Michigan prepares to host Central Michigan on the same night.
