CHENEY, Wash. (Interstat) — Weber State looks to build on a decisive win and continue its recent dominance over Eastern Washington when the Wildcats visit the Eagles in a Big Sky Conference men’s basketball game Saturday. The Wildcats (12-13, 5-7 Big Sky) are coming off a 72-53 home victory over Northern Arizona last Saturday, which snapped a three-game skid. The Eagles (7-17, 4-8), meanwhile, are riding a two-game winning streak after road victories at Montana and Montana State last week. Weber State won the first meeting this season, 91-80, in Ogden on Jan. 15. The Wildcats have won the last five matchups between the programs. A key focus will be Weber State guard Tijan Saine, who is averaging 22.6 points and 5.1 assists per game in conference play. Saine scored 20 points with five assists in the win over Northern Arizona and has scored 20 or more points in seven of his last eight games, including a 28-point, eight-assist performance in a win over Idaho State on Jan. 31. Eastern Washington counters with forward Alton Hamilton, who is coming off a 15-point effort in the upset at Montana State. Hamilton has scored in double figures in seven consecutive games, providing consistent production for the Eagles. The game at Reese Court pits two teams trying to climb the conference standings in the final month of the regular season. Weber State’s offense, which averages 77.6 points per game, will test an Eastern Washington defense that allows a conference-worst 78.8 points per contest. Following this matchup, Weber State returns home to host Montana State and Montana next week. Eastern Washington begins a two-game road trip at Sacramento State and Portland State.
