Preview: New Orleans Privateers at Houston Christian Huskies HOUSTON (Interstat) β Southland Conference rivals seeking momentum will meet Saturday when the New Orleans Privateers visit the Houston Christian Huskies at Sharp Gymnasium. The Privateers (12-14) enter on a high note after an 84-78 overtime victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Monday. Guard Jakevion Buckley was instrumental in that win, scoring 22 points. He has been a consistent offensive force, averaging 18.4 points over his last eight games, including a 25-point performance in a loss to Texas-Rio Grande Valley on Feb. 7. Houston Christian (8-17) looks to snap a four-game skid, most recently a 73-69 road loss to McNeese State. The Huskies have struggled offensively during the streak, failing to reach 60 points in three of those contests. Guard Demari Williams has been a bright spot, leading the team with 16 points in the McNeese State game and averaging 15.3 points per game over the same eight-game span referenced for Buckley. This matchup is a rematch of a Dec. 6 meeting, which Houston Christian won 85-76 in New Orleans. The Huskies will aim to replicate that result and complete a season sweep. For New Orleans, finding secondary scoring behind Buckley will be key. Tavaj Cope (16 points) and Coleton Benson (18 points) provided crucial support in the overtime win. Houston Christian will rely on Williams and DβAundre Samuels, who added 15 points in the last outing. Both teams are looking to improve their positioning ahead of the Southland Conference tournament. The Privateers have shown resilience, going 5-3 in their last eight, while the Huskies aim to defend their home court and rediscover the form that produced consecutive wins in mid-January. The game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. CST tip-off on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026.
