JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Interstat) — A pair of struggling ASUN Conference rivals will meet Saturday when the Jacksonville Dolphins host the North Florida Ospreys at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. Both teams enter the 2026 Valentine’s Day matchup looking to halt losing streaks. The visiting Ospreys (6-20) have dropped two straight following a 90-81 loss at Florida Gulf Coast on Wednesday. The Dolphins (9-17) have lost three consecutive games, most recently a 67-62 defeat at Stetson, also on Wednesday. The game will feature a compelling backcourt duel between two of the league’s top scorers. North Florida is led by dynamic guard Kamrin Oriol, who is averaging 22.4 points and 5.6 assists over his last seven games. Oriol has been on a tear, including a 35-point, 10-assist performance against Lipscomb on Jan. 31 and a 33-point, 15-assist outing in a win over Bellarmine on Jan. 24. Jacksonville will counter with guard Jaylen Jones, its leading scorer in conference play. Jones is coming off a 14-point effort against Stetson and scored 19 points in a loss at West Georgia on Feb. 7. His play will be pivotal for a Dolphins offense that has been held under 70 points in four of its last five games. While Jacksonville holds the better overall record, North Florida won the first meeting this season, 105-91, at North Alabama on Jan. 15. The Dolphins have shown flashes at home, including an overtime win over Eastern Kentucky on Jan. 24, but have since lost two straight at Veterans Memorial Arena. The Ospreys have relied heavily on Oriol and forward Kent Jackson, who scored 24 points in the midweek loss to FGCU. Jacksonville will need production beyond Jones, with forwards Hayden Wood and Donovan Rivers providing support. With both teams near the bottom of the ASUN standings, the contest represents a critical opportunity to build momentum before the conference tournament. The rematch is scheduled for Feb. 28 in Jacksonville.
