WICHITA, Kan. (Interstat) — A key American Athletic Conference rematch awaits on Saturday when the surging Tulsa Golden Hurricane visit the Wichita State Shockers at Charles Koch Arena. Tulsa (20-5, 9-3 AAC) aims to rebound from consecutive losses after a 10-game winning streak was snapped. The Golden Hurricane fell 68-63 to UAB on Wednesday and 80-74 at South Florida last Sunday. They now face a Wichita State team (15-10, 6-6) seeking payback after a 93-83 loss in Tulsa on Feb. 1. In that first meeting, Tulsa guard Tylen Riley erupted for 30 points, five rebounds and four assists. Riley, averaging 15.2 points and 4.9 assists, remains the focal point. He scored 15 points with five assists in the midweek loss to UAB. Wichita State is also looking to end a skid, having lost 66-58 to South Florida on Wednesday. Guard Kenyon Giles has been a bright spot, scoring 24 points in that defeat. Giles, who averages a team-leading 17.8 points, was held to 17 points in the first matchup with Tulsa. The Shockers have struggled offensively lately, failing to reach 70 points in three of their last four games. They will need more production beyond Giles to counter a Tulsa offense that averages 81.2 points per game, second in the AAC. Defensive intensity will be critical for Wichita State at home, where they are 10-3 this season. Containing Riley and disrupting Tulsa’s rhythm is paramount. For Tulsa, re-establishing its defensive identity after allowing 80 points in back-to-back games is the priority. The outcome carries significant weight for the conference standings. Tulsa sits in second place, while Wichita State is mired in the middle of the pack and needs a signature win to bolster its postseason resume. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CST on Saturday, Feb. 14.
