EVANSVILLE, Ind. (Interstat) — Two Ohio Valley Conference men’s basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Saturday when the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles host the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles. The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. EST tipoff at the Physical Activities Center on Feb. 14. Southern Indiana (5-19) enters on a six-game losing streak but is coming off a narrow 73-71 home loss to Tennessee State on Thursday. The Screaming Eagles’ offense runs through guard Cardell Bailey, who is coming off a season-high 25-point performance in that contest. Bailey has averaged 17.4 points over his last five games, providing a consistent scoring threat for a team that has struggled to find wins. Tennessee Tech (10-16) has lost three of its last four, including a 73-66 road loss at Morehead State on Thursday. The Golden Eagles will look to avenge a 71-54 home loss to Southern Indiana from Jan. 15. Guard Malik Ferguson, who scored 15 points off the bench in the loss to Morehead State, is a key reserve for Tennessee Tech. His scoring punch will be needed against a Southern Indiana team familiar with victory in this matchup. Both teams reside near the bottom of the conference standings and will view this as a critical opportunity to build confidence ahead of the final stretch of the regular season. Southern Indiana will aim to sweep the season series, while Tennessee Tech seeks a road victory to halt its recent slide. Following this contest, Southern Indiana begins a three-game road trip at Western Illinois on Thursday. Tennessee Tech returns home to host SIU Edwardsville next Thursday.
