ABILENE, Texas (Interstat) — A pair of teams seeking momentum in the Western Athletic Conference will meet Saturday when the Abilene Christian Wildcats host the Tarleton State Texans at Moody Coliseum. Both teams enter the Valentine’s Day matchup with nearly identical records. Tarleton State (12-12, 4-5 WAC) sits just above Abilene Christian (11-13, 3-6 WAC) in the conference standings. The Wildcats won the first meeting this season, 84-80, in Stephenville on Jan. 8. The Texans are looking to build on a narrow 62-59 road victory at Southern Utah last Saturday, which snapped a four-game losing streak. Guard Andy Sigiscar has been a key performer, averaging 12.3 points over his last six games. He scored 14 points in the win over Southern Utah and had 18 points and three steals in a one-point loss at California Baptist on Feb. 5. Abilene Christian arrives home after splitting a two-game road trip, most recently defeating Texas-Arlington 67-63 on Thursday. Guard Bradyn Hubbard led the way with 21 points in that victory and is averaging 14.7 points over his last six contests. Tarleton State’s recent success has been fueled by defense, holding opponents under 65 points in three of its last five games. Abilene Christian has struggled with consistency, alternating wins and losses over its past five outings. The game will be the first of a home-and-home series concluded quickly, as the Wildcats travel to face the Texans in Stephenville on Monday. Saturday’s contest is scheduled for a 7 p.m. CST tipoff at Moody Coliseum.
