SOUTH DAKOTA STATE SEEKS SEASON SWEEP AT ORAL ROBERTS TULSA, Okla. (Interstat) — The South Dakota State Jackrabbits will look to build on a decisive victory earlier this season when they visit the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles in a Summit League men’s basketball game Saturday at Mabee Center. South Dakota State (11-14) routed Oral Roberts 95-72 in Brookings on Jan. 31, part of a challenging stretch for both teams. The Jackrabbits have lost four of their last five games since that win, including a narrow 68-67 home loss to South Dakota last Saturday. Oral Roberts (5-20) has dropped eight consecutive games, with its last win coming on Dec. 30. The Jackrabbits are led by guard Joe Sayler, who torched the Golden Eagles for 24 points, eight rebounds and two assists in the January meeting. Sayler is averaging 19.2 points over his last five games, including a 21-point effort in the recent loss to South Dakota. Oral Roberts will counter with guard Connor Dow, who scored 20 points in a loss at St. Thomas last Saturday. Dow was held to six points in the first matchup with South Dakota State. The Golden Eagles have struggled defensively, allowing 86.2 points per game during their eight-game skid. Despite their overall records, both teams remain in the conference tournament hunt. South Dakota State sits in the middle of the Summit League standings, while Oral Roberts aims to snap its prolonged losing streak at home. Saturday’s game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. CST tipoff. South Dakota State hosts North Dakota State on Wednesday. Oral Roberts travels to face Omaha on the same night.
