Preview: Sacramento State at Northern Arizona FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Interstat) ā Two Big Sky Conference menās basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Saturday when the Sacramento State Hornets visit the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks at Walkup Skydome. Both teams enter with identical 9-15 overall records in all competitions and are looking to rebound from losses on Thursday. Sacramento State fell 95-79 at Northern Colorado, while Northern Arizona dropped a 77-68 home contest to Portland State. The matchup features two of the conferenceās top offensive talents. Sacramento State is led by guard Prophet Johnson, who is averaging 28.1 points over his last seven games. He scored 35 points in a win over Weber State on Feb. 2 and poured in 23 in the recent loss to Northern Colorado. His scoring prowess will be central to the Hornetsā attack. Northern Arizona counters with guard Karl Poom, who is coming off a 21-point performance against Portland State. Poom has scored in double figures in seven of his last eight outings, including a 16-point game in a win over Eastern Washington on Jan. 29. The Hornets won the seasonās first meeting, 83-69, at home on Jan. 15. In that game, Sacramento State limited Northern Arizona to 36.2% shooting from the field. Both teams have struggled for consistency in conference play. Sacramento State has shown a high-scoring capability, topping 100 points in its win over Weber State, but has also lost five of its last seven. Northern Arizona has won just two of its last six games. The game will be a key opportunity for either squad to build confidence ahead of the final stretch of the regular season. Sacramento Stateās offense, fueled by Johnson, will test a Northern Arizona defense that allowed Portland State to shoot 50% from the field on Thursday. Tip-off is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, in Flagstaff.
