Delta Devils, Bulldogs Set for SWAC Rematch in Huntsville HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Interstat) — A struggling Mississippi Valley State team riding a 10-game losing streak will look to star guard Michael James for an upset when it visits Alabama A&M in a Southwestern Athletic Conference men’s basketball game Saturday. The Delta Devils (1-23, 1-10 SWAC) face a steep challenge against the Bulldogs (13-11, 8-3) at T.M. Elmore Gymnasium. Alabama A&M, which sits near the top of the conference standings, handily won the first meeting this season, 71-51, in Itta Bena on Jan. 5. Mississippi Valley State’s season has been defined by frustration, with its lone win coming against a non-Division I opponent. However, James has been a consistent bright spot. The guard is averaging 25.7 points over his last six games, including a 32-point effort against Jackson State on Feb. 7 and 28 points in Monday’s 74-66 loss to Alcorn State. Alabama A&M, coming off a 66-58 road victory at Grambling on Monday, boasts more balance and depth. Forward James Graham leads the Bulldogs, coming off a 19-point, two-block performance in that win. His production has been variable, but he provides a key interior presence for a team that has won three of its last five. The Bulldogs have defended their home court well this season, while the Delta Devils have yet to secure a road victory. Mississippi Valley State will need secondary scoring behind James, potentially from guard X’Zaevion Barnett, who dished out seven assists in the last outing, to challenge the Bulldogs. For Alabama A&M, maintaining its defensive intensity will be paramount to avoid a letdown against the conference’s last-place team as it pursues a higher SWAC tournament seed. Tipoff is set for Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026.
