LOGAN, Utah (Interstat) — A surging Utah State team riding a six-game winning streak will host an inconsistent Memphis squad looking to salvage its season when the Aggies and Tigers meet in a nonconference men’s basketball game Saturday at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. The Aggies (21-3), ranked among the nation’s elite, have lost only once since Dec. 5, a dominant stretch that includes wins over Mountain West contenders like San Diego State and New Mexico. Their most recent outing was a 91-78 home victory over Fresno State on Tuesday, where guard Elijah Perryman shined with 16 points and seven assists in just 19 minutes. Perryman has been a key facilitator, averaging 5.0 assists over his last three games. Memphis (12-12) arrives following a 76-69 road loss at North Texas on Thursday, a defeat that typified its up-and-down campaign. The Tigers have shown flashes, including a 90-80 win at UAB on Feb. 5 and a 92-65 rout of Florida Atlantic, but have struggled to find consistency. The Tigers’ hopes often rest with high-scoring guard Sincere Parker, who is coming off a 20-point performance against North Texas and erupted for 40 points in the win at UAB. When Parker scores 20 or more points this season, Memphis is 5-2. Utah State boasts one of the most efficient offenses in the country and will test a Memphis defense that has allowed 76 points or more in three of its last five games. The Aggies are 12-1 at home this season, with their only loss at the Spectrum coming against UNLV on Jan. 20. This marks the first meeting between the programs since 2019. For Memphis, it represents a critical opportunity for a résumé-building win away from home. For Utah State, it’s a chance to solidify its standing before returning to conference play next week against Boise State. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. MST on Saturday, Feb. 14.
