MALIBU, Calif. (Interstat) — Two West Coast Conference men’s basketball teams looking to halt slides will meet when the Loyola Marymount Lions visit the Pepperdine Waves on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, at Firestone Fieldhouse. The Lions (13-14 overall) have dropped two of their last three, including a 59-65 road loss at Pacific on Wednesday. Guard Jan Vide led LMU in that defeat with 19 points and has been a consistent offensive catalyst, averaging 13.4 points over his last five appearances. He scored 32 points in a Jan. 8 double-overtime win over San Francisco, highlighting a season of resilience for a squad that has struggled for consistency in conference play. Pepperdine (6-20) enters on a seven-game losing streak, most recently an 88-60 defeat at Saint Mary’s. The Waves have found a bright spot in guard Aaron Clark, who has shouldered a heavy scoring load. Clark is averaging 19.3 points over his last six games, including a 31-point performance in an overtime loss to San Diego on Jan. 28. His offensive output, however, has not translated to wins for a Pepperdine defense allowing an average of 83.4 points during the current skid. The matchup pits LMU’s sporadic offense against a porous Pepperdine defense. The Lions average 69.2 points per game but have been held under 60 points in three of their last seven contests. Pepperdine ranks near the bottom of the WCC in scoring defense, a vulnerability LMU will look to exploit with Vide and backcourt mate Myron Amey, who added 17 points against Pacific. Historically, games between these Southern California rivals are tightly contested. With both teams seeking momentum ahead of the final stretch of the regular season, Saturday’s contest in Malibu represents a critical opportunity to steer their respective seasons in a positive direction. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. PST. The game will be broadcast on the WCC Network.
